Uncovering Information Technology Self-Study Online CBT Certification Training

Some training companies are still using a now out-dated method of training - classroom lessons. Often sold as a benefit, after discussion with someone who has first-hand experience, you'll hear a common theme of many or all of the following problems:

- Repeated visits to the centre - very long trips in more cases than not.

- Mon-Fri access for classes can be usual, and with 2-3 days to book off work, this causes a lot of problems for many working people.

- Holiday days lost - a lot of students only have 20 days holiday. If half or more of that is used up by training classes, that isn't going to leave much vacation time for most student's families.

- Training workshops usually are over-subscribed, meaning we have to accept a less-than-ideal slot.

- Some trainees lean towards a different pace to others in the class. Often this can bring about a classic case of 'classroom tension'.

- Tot up the cost of all the travel, fares, parking, food and accommodation and you'll be in for a big surprise. Attendees talk of increased costs of between several hundred and a couple of thousand pounds. Take some time to add it all up - then you'll know.

- Privacy is important to us all. We don't want to risk losing any lift up the ladder that could awarded to us because we're getting trained in a different area.

- It's not unusual to find that, at times, it's uncomfortable to raise questions when surrounded by other attendees - who wants to look like they're the only one who doesn't get it?

- If you on occasion work elsewhere in the country for several days at a time, imagine the increased difficulty in making the necessary workshops, when time is at a premium.

Why not simply watch and be taught by tutors one-to-one in pre-filmed classes, doing them at a time that's convenient for you and you alone. Training can take place wherever it suits you. Got a laptop?... Then you could get some fresh air in your garden while you work. If you have any difficulties then get onto the live 24x7 support. Irrespective of how many times you feel you need to repeat something, video-based instructors will never get annoyed or frustrated! And don't forget, because of this, note-taking becomes a thing of the past. Everything is there for you to use. Put simply: You save time, hassle, money and altogether avoid polluting the skies.

With so much choice, it's not really surprising that a large majority of newcomers to the industry don't really understand the best career path they will enjoy. How can we possibly grasp what is involved in a particular job when we haven't done that before? We normally have never met anyone who does that actual job anyway. Deliberation over these different points is imperative when you want to uncover a solution that suits you:

- Your personal interests and hobbies - these can define what areas will give you the most reward.

- What time-frame are you looking at for the training process?

- Where do you stand on job satisfaction vs salary?

- Considering all that the IT industry covers, it's important to be able to understand what is different.

- You should also think long and hard about the level of commitment you're going to invest in your training.

To bypass all the jargon and confusion, and uncover the best path to success, have a good talk with an industry-experienced advisor; someone that understands the commercial reality and of course the accreditations.

Make sure that all your qualifications are current and commercially required - you're wasting your time with programs which provide certificates that are worthless because they're 'in-house'. If your certification doesn't come from a major player like Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco or Adobe, then it's likely it won't be commercially viable - because it won't give an employer any directly-useable skills.
